Ink management software

Total control at your fingertips
Since 1980, GSE has been supplying ink dispensing systems equipped with ink management software. Today, over 1,000 printers enjoy the advantages of automatic dispensing of water-based, solvent-based or UV-curable inks. With the all-new Ink manager platform, GSE meets the needs for more functionality from users, ink suppliers and other value chain partners.
Resulting from years of development and intensive collaboration with different market players, GSE Ink manager is fully tailored to the needs of modern printing houses. In developing the software, a process approach has been kept in mind.
All relevant workflow steps relating to ink logistics are supported, such as ink dispensing, processing press-return inks and colour corrections. GSE Ink manager provides a total solution for managing all ink-related information. It far exceeds just the machine control of the dispensing system.
  Modular architecture, modern user interface
The modular software design combines the advantages of standardisation with those of customisation. Extensions with additional modules after initial installation are simple to make. Thanks to the fresh, intuitive Windows interface, the software is easy to learn and work with. You can sort, hide, drag and drop columns. You can save any lay-out you have designed. The software also includes extensive search, reporting and connectivity functions.   GSE Ink manager: basic package and optional modules

Thickening preparation system

Consistent preparation of base thickenings for textile printing.
GSE’s TPS thickening preparation system gives you extremely smooth, consistent printing paste thickenings – time after time.   The system is sturdy and reliable, requires virtually no maintenance and ensures optimal dissolving during blending. You can use it for thickening preparation and storage, as well as for preparation of printing paste and/or mother colours.   TPS thickening preparation system:
  • Easy to operate
  • Reliable and durable
  • Improves your thickening quality

Preparation units:
All types of thickening powders, such as alginates, guars and starches, can be mixed in the TPS preparation tanks. The preparation units are known for their heavy-duty construction and durability, and the use of high quality stainless steel leads to low maintenance and excellent reliability. The unit can be equipped with 1-4 preparation tanks, each with a capacity of 500 or 1000 litres. Efficient blending is guaranteed by the powerful 2-speed emulsifier equipped with a specially shaped turbo type mixing head. This mixer unit ensures thorough dissolving of the thickening powders. The optional volumetric dispensing unit (VDU) dispenses all liquid components used in the thickening recipe, automatically into the preparation tank. Once mixing is completed, the thickening is pumped from the preparation tank through the distribution manifold into the storage tanks. An inline filter unit ensures that the thickening is clean and lump-free.

Storage tanks:
GSE can provide thickening storage tanks with capacities of 1000, 1500 or 2000 litres with or without scaffolding and staircase.

Paste peparation:
From the storage tanks, the thickening can be pumped automatically to the IPS dispensing system, or it can be removed from the tank using a manually operated dispensing valve. This process, known as paste preparation, is for manual printing paste production or preparation of mother colours used on the IPS (in case of powder dyes).

The process is as follows: the drum is placed on the conveyor underneath the manual dispensing valves. Thickening is removed from the storage tank with the manual dispensing valve and the dyestuff is added. The drum is transported towards the manual mixer. After mixing, the drum is transported to the drum-lifting device. This unit is used to tilt the drum, so the paste pours into the vacuum strainer. After filtering the paste, it can be used for production.

Colormix automatic blender

Full automation of bucket transport and blending
The Colormix automatic blender is suitable for homogenisation of dispensed inks in buckets. The blender with the automatic conveyor system is integrated with the exit side of roller conveyor of the Colorsat Compact dispensing system (low or high version).

The blender is suitable for water-based and solvent-based inks. There are two executions available, depending on the bucket size and ink viscosity. The standard version is suitable for buckets up to 25 liters and a viscosity up to 500 mPas. The “heavy duty” version can handle buckets of up to 60 liters and a viscosity of up to 1,250 mPas.

Blending and cleaning
After the bucket with dispensed ink is automatically positioned underneath the blender, the shaft with propeller blades will be lowered inside the bucket. The blending process is started. The duration of the blending cycle is adjustable. After the blending process is ended, the shaft will be raised. Beside the blender a bucket with detergent is positioned for cleaning the shaft and the propeller blades. After each blending, the blender will be turned and lowered inside this bucket with detergent. The cleaning process is started. The duration of the cleaning cycle is adjustable. After the cleaning process is ended, the shaft will be raised and the blender will be turned back.

Full automation
The bucket transport and positioning and the blending and cleaning processes are completely automated and controlled by the software of the dispensing system. All up and down movements of the blending shaft are automatic (by a pneumatic cylinder), and also the rotation of the blender is fully automated. The rotation speed is adjustable with the exhaust of the pneumatic blender motor.

Integration with a Colorsat Compact High
The automatic blender can be integrated with a Compact High dispensing system. An automatic bucket transport system (roller conveyor) will enable you to dispense into buckets, and to make small batches. It consists of an entry conveyor and an exit conveyor. In between, underneath the dispensing station (above the floor scale), there is an opening, which makes it possible to position an open-top drum, and dispense into this drum. For dispensing into buckets or pails, a mobile conveyor (cart) can be positioned on this floor scale. This mobile conveyor bridges the entry and exit conveyors.

About us

Company details

Company profile GSE
GSE delivers robust, fast and smart dispensing equipment, software and services. We help printers and their ink suppliers to tackle ink-related wastes in the printing workflow. We are based in Brummen in the Netherlands.

Over the years, we have acquired a strong position in the market. We succeeded in combining advanced gravimetric dosing systems with a global network of sales and service partners. We have more than 45 years of experience in the graphics, textile and coating industry. During this period we have built an installed base of 1900 automatic dispensers in 90 countries.

Our purpose is to reduce the environmental impact of inks and ink-related resources in the printing industry. We want to be the global number one partner for printers and their ink suppliers in the packaging, deco and textile industry. We do this by supplying equipment, software and services that reduce wastes in ink logistics. Our ambition is to be a reassuring, reliable, refreshing and connected partner for our customers.
With our “lean” process approach, we add value to ink logistics. Advising, implementing and supporting ink logistics solutions for our customers is a continuous process for us.

Our dedicated team has continued to stand out in the market. Not only because of our advanced systems with sophisticated software, but by providing first-class support as well.

The key to our success is our “system design”approach.  We balance the performance of pneumatics, electronics, software and computer control with the mechanics of fluid flow dynamics.
Our products are fast, accurate and robust. They are also easy to use, clean and maintain. Moreover, the modular architecture of our equipment and software enables smart customisation and quick response manufacturing.

We have all the necessary disciplines in-house: business development, engineering, manufacturing, consultancy, sales and after sales support. And with our modern ERP software fully implemented, we are equipped for the future.

GSE was founded in 1975. In 1980 we were the first to introduce an automatic gravimetric dispensing system, called IPS. In the textile industry, these systems were produced by GSE and marketed by Stork. Later, this experience was applied to produce the Colorsat range of dispensing equipment. These systems were developed for the fast growing graphics market, in which we currently hold a strong position.

GSE was acquired by the Stork group in 2000.
At the time, being part of this major Dutch conglomerate’s Prints division brought two important benefits. It provided the financial support necessary to invest in R&D, so that the company could innovate and grow. And it enabled us to tap into the parent company’s worldwide network of distributors.

In October 2006, the company underwent a management buyout. It is now run directly by the company’s senior management.

Since the buyout, GSE put a lot of effort in improving its customer support network, product range, business processes and ICT infrastructure.

Nowadays, the company has a wide product portfolio for the packaging, textile, paint, wall covering and flooring industries. The range covers all ink and paste types, and caters for users of all processes, not merely the less viscous flexo and gravure varieties. The programme of gravimetric dispensers ranges from small stand-alone manual dispensers to large fully automatic production systems, with connection to higher level production management systems.
